Medieval Besalu
Besalu was the ancient capital of the region it controlled all the trade that entered the Pyrenees. The town still retains the characteristic walls of its medieval past, and offers wonderful examples of Romanesque architecture. There are two squares and a number of restaurants and terrace bars. Besalu recently became famous for the high quality of its restaurants.
Mountain Hiking
This region, known as the Garrotxa (“land difficult to walk on”) offers a great variety of trails for day trekking. Mountainous scenery and varied landscapes make this land a pleasure for walking either with a guide or on your own.
