Natural horsemanship is a system which involves working in a calm, coherent non-violent manner. Encouraging the horse to cooperate with us through its own free will, and achieving our objectives in a progressive, coordinated manner.
Horses have survived for thousands of years living by their instincts. They are social animals which live together. The leader of the group is selected for his/her patience, coherence, constancy and wisdom. The ability to lead through example, make correct decisions, protect, and provide comprehensible guidance are also significant aspects of both teamwork and leadership in both human and equine relationships.
We can learn a lot about leadership and teamwork through the application of these concepts.
Free-form animal communication is what you see happening when a group of horses live and interact together. Horses learn to cooperate with each other through understanding and example, not through obligation
